I found it, the perfect little dress for the summer. Very modern, A-line and sleeveless, falling just above the knee with a great gold embroidered collar. Now for the shoes! I realized in horror that I had nothing really perfect to go with the dress. Nothing excites me more than realizing my “want” a pair of shoes is actually a “need” the perfect match for a dress already purchased. Gold shoes are everywhere so this should have been easier than I thought but then I realized that I needed a couple of pair! I would be wearing “the dress” to a number of outings from ballet recitals to garden parties to evening cocktail soirees.
I had to find shoes. Thank goodness, it’s a great year for finding gold shoes and there is plenty to choose from including pumps to the uber feminine d’orssay style sandal. The
biggest challenge I faced was narrowing down my selection. At one point I had five pairs on hold at a number of shoe stores and boutiques.
Some of my favorites continue to be supplied by the usual suspects. Manolo Blahnik makes a divinely feminine metallic d'orssay "the Rupa", while Jimmy Choo has the ultimate platform shoe making a statement and completing the dress. The Jimmy Choos are a "dress me up dress me down shoe" and can be worn with the little black dress as easily as a pair of blue jeans. I did find a stunning pair of Gucci peek-a-boo toe pumps but for the budget savvy there are multiple other choices as well.
Ultimately I settled for the sweetest Alagazi Gold open toe pumps from Nine West (a staple in my closet) and the strappy Stuart Weitzman's which do after all, go perfectly with "The Dress". But man do I want those Jimmy Choo platforms.
