Safer Fun in the Sun

Solar safe The Solar Safe UV Sun Monitor Wristbands make sun block application easier.  Before heading out into the sun, put on one of the wristbands and apply sun block lotion to your body and the wristband.  When the wristband begins to lose color, it signals the need to apply more sun block.  If the wristband loses all its color, it is time to seek shelter from the sun before you develop sunburn.  These wristbands take all the guesswork out of when to reapply sun block, or when to call it a day, allowing you to just focus on fun in the sun.

Directv Adds 2 More HD Channels Tennis and College Sports TV

Directv1r Directv keeps rolling out more and more High Definition Channels, today they added 217 Tennis Channel HD and 610 College Sports TV HD.

For a guide to all of Directv's HD channels check out my blog titled: Complete Directv Lineup Guide.

If you've tuned to any of these channels and cannot receive them you might not have the proper equipment.  You will need the following in order to receive the new HD channels: a 5 LNB Dish, and one of the following MPEG 4 boxes: a HR-20, HR-21, H-20 or H-21 model.  Without this equipment you will not be able to receive the signal from the new bird.

Top 10 Wii Accessories to Increase the Fun (updated 2009-01-26)

Wiioffcouch_2 Alright you have a new Wii console and now you want to find out what else you should get.  Here are the top 10 best accessories to optimize your Wii and have more fun:

  • Extra Controllers - Wii consoles only come with one controller wiimote and one nunchuk.  In order to have the most fun with your Wii you're going to want to play with your buds.  You might want to think about picking up extra Wiimotes and nunchuks so you can optimize your fun.
  • Wii Fit - Wii Fit is the latest addition to the Nintendo Wii.  It combines yoga, balance, and strength training into a fun and easy to use package.  It makes exercise a blast for the whole family!
  • Sports Pack - Wii Sports Packs feature some really cool separate accessory attachments including: A Baseball Bat, Golf Grip and Tennis Racket Grip, and each attach quickly and safely to the Wii Remote, transforming the game play experience. Designed to match the aesthetics of the Wii Remote, the Wii Sports Pack is a must for all sporting fans.
  • SD card - The Wii comes with 512mb but many gamers quickly fill it up and use an SD Card to supplement, pick up a 1 GB or 2 GB SD card (they're very affordable now).
  • Sensor Bar - Your wii console comes with one but these often break and it might make sense that you keep an extra sensor bar as a backup (they're very inexpensive).
  • Wii Points Game card - One of the coolest things about the Wii is its Virtual Console, which lets gamers purchase classic games from the old Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Super NES, the Nintendo 64, the Sega Genesis, and the TurboGrafx-16. Some of the titles include: Donkey Kong (NES), Super Mario 64 (N64), and Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis). To purchase the downloadable titles, you'll need to use Nintendo currency known as Wii Points (similar to the Microsoft Points on Xbox Live), which currently have an exchange rate of 100 points per U.S. dollar. You can buy Wii Points directly through the console's online store, or use prepaid Wii Points Cards.
  • Guitar Hero - Is one of the best Wii games but it also comes with the ultimate Wii accessory, a guitar.  If you haven't played Wii Guitar Hero you need to let your hair down and rock out.

Check out my previous Wii Blog where I list the Top 10 Wii Games.
