Sega Dreamcast System is making a comeback!

Dreamcast Image It was so surprising to see an article about the Sega Dreamcast the other day on Yahoo news. The full reason why it is making a comeback isn’t quite known, but is believed to be linked to the recession.

The history of this console is that the Dreamcast came out in 1998 and was the last system Sega ever manufactured. It surpassed Playstation and Nintendo 64 back in its day because of its superior graphics at the time. You can find great deals on this console at GetItNext!

Keeping kids busy during the Holidays

Tob This time next week, we will be getting ready to celebrate Christmas and New Years, but the kids will be off for a least another week! Oh, how to keep them entertained during the extra time once some of the Christmas present magic wears off.

If you one of the lucky ones to have snow, sledding is fun with your crazy carpet/tube sled or toboggan. Be sure to layer in all the latest winter attire. Grab your skates and hockey stick and pick up a game of hockey with the little ones. Building a snowman is always an option - don't forget the hat and corn cob pipe. Skiing is fun too, whether it be downhill skiing or cross-country skiing!

For those days when it is down right freezing outside, board games or a  Wii, will fill up some time and soon enough the kids will be back to school wanting to tell their friends about their family holiday adventures!

Need a Last Minute Wii? Here's How To Find One Fast

Nintendo-wii-gift Once again the Nintendo Wii has proven to be a tough find this holiday season.  As we get closer to the holiday's the scarcity of this gaming system increases.  The Wii fit is even harder to find than the Wii console, I've been told if you're not there the day the trucks arrive with fresh units you have no chance.

So what is a procrastinator to do if you have little one's that are counting on Santa delivering a Wii or a Fit?  Well there is one guaranteed place to find one, eBay.

With time running out I've listed a couple of searches that will help you find one quick.  I've only included a search for Buy It Now's to help save time and also a search called Find a Deal which only returns listings that will end in the next 4 hours with zero bids, this could help you find a quick bargain.  Good luck and happy Wii hunting.

The Clone Wars - Star Wars for the Next Generation

When the first Star Wars movie, now officially titled “A New Hope”, was released in theaters in 1977, I was seven years old. “The Empire Strikes Back” followed in 1980, and the original trilogy wrapped up in 1983 with “Return of the Jedi”. I would have given anything for a real lightsaber…come to think of it, I still would! The point is, I grew up with the world George Lucas created at impressionable times in my life. Star wars

The Star Wars universe then produced book after book from imaginative writers such as Timothy Zhan and Kevin J Anderson at a time in my life when I really enjoyed reading. The books I felt, did, and continue to do a fantastic job in furthering the Star Wars tale for those wanting a future-look into the lives of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and company.

My son is now seven years old, and Star Wars means as much or more to him now, as it did to me all those years ago. That is what I think is one of the most unique characteristics of the Star Wars saga – it spans generations, and in some cases brings generations together. Essentially, the motion picture versions of the original trilogy, in addition to the prequel trilogy, tell the life story of Anakin Skywalker’s Jedi heroism, and his fall from grace to the Dark Side as Darth Vader - albeit a little backward in presentation.

And now, the spin-off story set between the motion pictures “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith”, is the story of the Clone Wars as the latest chapter. Thanks to the two animated dvd’s; “Star Wars Clone Wars – Volumes One and Two”, and the theater-released computer animated “Star Wars - The Clone Wars” prefacing the television series of the same name, my son now wants to either be a Clone Trooper, or a Jedi when he grows up. Well, who am I to stand in his way…provided he can score me that real lightsaber.

The real battle: Guitar Hero versus Rock Band

There was a time in my life when I wished I could be in a rock band, traveling to different venues every night with groupies in tow.  Now, my dreams of travel are less frequent and in an SUV rather than a tour bus.  Oh, and my groupies call me “mom”.  Besides the occasional drum solo on the steering wheel or the belting of a tune I just can’t seem to get out of my head, I am in search of a venue for the inner rock star that lies within me.  Thus, the real battle begins.  Do I purchase Guitar Hero or Rock Band?Wave_guitar

Guitar Hero offers 70+ songs to play along with, allows me to play with other “musicians” through the multiple guitar battle mode, and comes with a Gibson Les Paul guitar controller.  And I can customize my “guitar” because of the removable face plate.  If I am feeling exceptionally bold, I can even battle with other “musicians” worldwide via an online multi-play mode.

In comparison, Rock Band’s song list for this package is similar in length to Guitar Hero, but also advertises more current hits along with classic rock band hits.  However, it does not confine me to just a guitar for my instrument of choice.  I can enlist a bassist or drummer or pass the mic to a lead vocalist.  Not to mention, I have eliminated the idea of taking turns by adding more instruments.

Either way, I get to go on tour, by never leaving my living room.
