NY Yankees Opening Day Ticket Bargains on eBay

New-yankee-stadium-model Opening day tickets at the new Yankee stadium are already listed on eBay.  There are over 70 listings for the most sought after game of the upcoming 2009 MLB season.  If you're interested in attending now might be the best time to bid as demand may be a bit lower now.  As we move into the spring demand will only increase as the new stadium is hyped more and more and the weather gets warmer.

Right now there are a couple pairs listed for Buy It Now's for $399, which isn't bad for NY ticket prices.  Here is a link to check out the auctions currently listed on eBay: NY Yankees Opening Day Tickets.

NY Yankees Last Home Game Ticket Prices Will Surprise You

Yankee_stadium I just did a quick search of eBay via GetItNext to check and see what the final home game tickets at Yankee Stadium are selling for.  Currently the range for the last NY Yankees home game via a Buy It Now is $384 for a ticket all the way up to $8000 for a pair for the 9/21 home game.  A bit too rich for my blood and I also have no desire to go.

I've been to the House that Ruth built 100's of times and said my goodbyes earlier in the season.  My fondest memory is sitting in the left field bleachers watching them win the series against the Atlanta Braves in 1996.

If you wish to follow ticket prices via traditional auctions check out this link to NY Yankees last home game auctions.

New Yankees Stadium Prices are Outrageous

New_yankees_stadium_2 With the new Yankees Stadium less than a year away prices are now posted for premium seats.  With the country in a recession and the New York Yankees not winning a World Series in 8 seasons the Yankees feel compelled to charge the most outrageous prices in all of baseball.  Here's a sample of the prices for the new ballpark:

Legends suite seats: 25 of the closest sections from home plate down each baseline consist of 1800 seats at $500 a pop.  $500 a seat against the Devil Rays or Royals in April, sounds like a grand ole time.

Main Level outdoor suite: the 9 sections of the main level behind home plate, these will run 1200 fans a mere $350 a seat per game.

Terrace Level outdoor suite: the 9 sections of the Terrace level behind home plate, these will cost lucky fans only $100 a seat.  These are basically upper deck seats with a fancy name and a large price tag.

If you just won the lottery, are a Wall Street tycoon or have time on your hands like client #9 here's a link to check out the full amenities and what it will cost next year Yankees premium seating.

For more reasonable prices on seats this year check out Yankees tickets.

10 Top Things to Do with Barry Bonds Home Run Ball #756

Barry_bonds_juice_3 I decided to write down the top 10 things I would consider doing if I was Matt Murphy.  Who is that you ask?  He's the guy that caught Barry Bonds historic record breaking #756 homerun ball.  Here's my Top Ten list:

10 - See if BALCO would like to buy it so they can put it on display at their corporate headquarters.
9 - See if Bob Costas wants to buy it so he can have the last laugh on Barry.
8 - Have the ball tested to see if it tests positive for steroids.
7 - Give it to Barry's trainer Greg Anderson who is currently behind bars protecting Barry.
6 - Declare that you're keeping the ball and ask Barry to sign it for you.
5 - See if Bud Selig wants to buy it so he can bury it along with all the attention about Barry and juicing.
4 - Find out how much Barry is willing to pay for it, if it's fair value sell it to him plus some signed syringes.
3 - Contact the guys at Will it blend and see if they are willing to buy it for their killer viral marketing campaign.  Tom Dickson can step aside and let Hank Aaron blend the ball.
2 - Cut it into pieces and sell each piece for thousands.
1 - Complete step 6, say you've changed your mind and auction it off on eBay or with a auction house IMMEDIATELY.  The sooner this ball sells the better.  The balls value will continue to decline as Barry keeps hitting homeruns.

Top 7 Things to Do with Arod #500 Homerun Ball

Arod_cash I decided to write down the top 7 things I would consider doing if I was Walter Kowalczyk.  Who is that you ask?  He's the guy that caught Alex Rodriguez aka Arod's #500 homerun ball on Saturday, for more details check out my blog from yesterday Media Killing Fan to give Arod his ball back.  So without further ado here is my top 7 list.  If you have to ask why 7, well I guess you're not a Yankees fan.

7 - Donate the ball to charity like Make a Wish or to MLB Cooperstown. I don't think this is a viable option for Walt as it seems he is in need of cash.
6 - Declare that you're keeping the ball and ask Arod to sign it for you.
5 - The Yankees are apparently trying to broker a deal to get the ball for Arod.  Ask for signed bats, balls, etc from all active and retired yankees players.  Since Walt is a fanatic he should also try and get multi years of season tickets at the stadium (5+ years).  He might have alot of leverage since the Yankees are trying to retain Mr Rodriguez' services after this year (he has an out clause in his contract).
4 - Find out how much Arod is willing to pay for it, if it's fair value sell it to him plus some autographs.
3 - Contact the guys at Will it blend and see if they are willing to buy it for their killer viral marketing campaign.
Joslynnoelmorse 2 - If after attempting Step 4 Arod low balls you, contact Arod's wife and mistress Joslyn Noel Morse and get them in a bidding war for the ball.  It could turn into one heck of a cat fight.
1 - Complete step 6, say you've changed your mind and auction it off on eBay or with a auction house.

For all you Arod fans, you might want to check out this article Arod to save MLB and Collectibles market.  I also have a Top 10 Things to Do With Barry Bonds #756 Home Run Ball.

Media Killing Fan to Give Arod "his" Ball Back

Arod_ballThe back story: Walter Kowalczyk was the lucky rabid fan that caught Alex Rodriguez’s 500th career home run on Saturday at Yankees Stadium.  Walter was able to use his 250 pound frame to his advantage to protect himself from the scrum that was created by other fans trying to get the ball.  Walter was quickly taken out of the section by Yankees security guards and taken to a suite to watch the rest of the game, the Yankees even drove him home.

Well it turns out this guy is taking tons of heat in the media that its Arod's ball and how it shouldn't be about the money.  Even that hypocrite loud mouth Mad Dog Mike Russo was screaming about how it shouldn't be about the money.  Are you friggin kidding me?  It shouldn't be about the money, Mad dog?  Are we forgetting whose ball he caught?  The biggest money grubber in all of sports.  The guy who has a $252 million dollar contract that he is going to void at the end of the year because he wants MORE money.  Screw Alex Rodriguez, I hope Walt gets as much money out of him as possible.  I love how Arod has empowered the Yankees to negotiate for him.  How about Arod picking up the phone and calling him and offering to sign it and feeling the guy out?  No, Arod has to have his people contact the team to have their people contact this guy.  What a disgrace, and now people are giving this guy crap about looking at what his options are, c'mon.

Heres what Arod and the Yankees have said on the subject: Rodriguez has said he would like to have the ball.  “I’m kind of just going to let it sit for a few days,” Rodriguez said.  Let him enjoy it and then go from there.”  Jason Zillo, a spokesman for the Yankees, said the team is willing to make an exchange with Kowalczyk for the ball. “If his favorite player is Roger Clemens, I think Roger Clemens would give him some stuff,” he said.

Memorablia is nice but it doesn't pay the rent.  This guy should hold out for the money considering that he was forced to sell his house after being unemployed for a period of time.  If Arod doesn't want to give him fair value let him buy it at auction.

Mets Fan Grabs Bonds Ball #756

Barry_bonds_756_ball A 22 year from Queens, was the Barry Bonds lottery winner last night.  The ball that made Barry Bonds the home-run king was caught by Matt Murphy who was en-route to Australia with a friend when they stopped in San Francisco and scalped tickets to the Giants game.

Barry broke Hank Aaron's record in the fifth inning and the historic ball landed near Murphy and a scrum took place as fans fought their way to the ball. When the pile cleared, a bloodied Murphy - who was wearing a blue Mets T-shirt - had #756, worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, in his hand.

"It was a mess. Bodies on top of bodies, four layers deep for five minutes," said Mark Peel, 52, who witnessed the scramble for the ball. "I didn't think anyone was going to come up."

Murphy held the ball up as security guards whisked him to a secure room.  Can you believe this guys good fortune?  I think Matt should board a jet for Vegas not Australia.  As far as the ball, let the bidding begin.

Barry Bonds on Verge of Breaking Greatest Record in All of Sports

Barry_bonds_755 Love him or hate him Barry Bonds IS going to break the most legendary record in Baseball and arguably in all of sports.  If you haven't done so check out the last Bob Costas Now show on HBO, it features Curt Schilling on steroids and also a panel of Gary Carter, Ozzie Smith and Chris Rock discussing Barry Bonds and also a pretty good interview with the chemist from Balco.

Here is the video of Barry tying legend Hank Aaron.

Check out my blog on who has the best chance of getting the ball if it lands in McCovey Cove Kayak King.  I also have a blog where I talk about How Much Barry Bonds Record Setting Ball could be worth.

Barry Bonds Record Breaking Ball Could Fetch a Million Bucks

Bonds_juiced Love em or hate him, some lucky fan could end up a millionaire. Speculation is building on what Bonds' record breaking and final career home-run balls could fetch on the open market.  The figure is estimated between $400,000 to $1 million.  According to collectibles expert David Kohler, president of SCP Auctions, which handled the February sale of a Honus Wagner baseball card for $2.35 million, the Bonds home run ball # 756 could bring in between $400,000 to $500,000 at auction.

That estimate seems to be a bit low considering the ball Mark McGwire hit to break Roger Maris' single-season home run record sold for $3 million.  However that was a different time in Baseball and collectibles.  That was the summer of the great home run race between McGwire and Sammy Sosa.  Unlike that home run record chase, this record breaking summer has not had the same buzz or feel.   Throughout his career Barry has not been loved by a lot of baseball fans and sports writers due to his antics on and off the field and due to allegations of steroids.   An example of how this hurts the value of the ball is that when Bonds later shattered Mark McGwire's single season home run record by hitting 73 in 2001, that ball was auctioned and only fetched $450,000 compared to the $3 million of Marks ball.

Barry_bonds_traded There's also the fact that No. 756 probably won't remain the record ball. The 43-year-old Bonds will hit more thus #756 will be a big collectible but won't be the final one.  Each subsequent record breaking ball should command around $100,000 at auction.

For those of you with San Fransisco Giants tickets had better play close attention during games.  Remember sometimes luck strikes like when Andrew Morbitzer was standing in the beer line when Bonds hit No. 715 to pass Babe Ruth for second all-time.  The ball landed on a elevated platform, it rolled off the roof and into Morbitzer's hand.  That's called having a good day.

Major League Baseball (MLB) is doing its part to preserve the collectible by swapping balls for each Bonds at-bat. The balls are identified by a numbering system, and each one has a special hologram.

Check out my blog on who has the best chance of getting the ball if it lands in McCovey Cove Kayak King.
