Apple MacBook iPhone Diamond Bling Fest

Macbook-iPhone-Diamond-Bling While I was browsing GetItNext to find myself a brand new 3g iPhone, I stumbled upon this truly amazing auction from TraxNYC. The company is selling a top of the line Men’s Diamond Ring, Cross, Bracelet and Watch along with a Mac Book Pro and the highly desired iPhone.  Not sure how it all ties together but in this economy why not do the opposite of reality and aim high.  Maybe their target market is all the Yankees fans that sit in the new legends seats.

Here is a link to the bling fest if you want to view the actual listing: Diamond iPhone MacBook.

Listing details: the diamond ring, which is claimed to be one of the finest on the market, contains 7 huge stones surrounded by an array of smaller diamonds giving it a fully covered diamond surface for ultimate shine. The auction also describes the one of a kind cross and bracelet. The cross displays a fully invisible concave setting, one of the most popular diamond settings on the market today. The bracelet is another true masterpiece; the surface is 100% fully iced with pave set VS Stones set in 14k gold. On top of all this cool ‘Bling-Bling’ you also the coolest gadgets, an iPhone and Macbook Pro!

Technology Women Love

Technology-women Surprise guys!  We like technology over frou frou gifts.  After all, we are the rational sex with a disposition for the practical things in life.  While giving us flowers and chocolate and treating us to a great dinner at a fancy restaurant wins points in our books, we also know well enough that an iPod may stick around longer than you will.  So, just what is it that women really want?  Here it is:

1. iPod Touch.  With 8 GB of memory, that can hold enough love songs for the duration of the relationship and enough man loathing chick flicks with 10 hours of video storage space for when things go sour.

2. iPhone.  Visit the iTunes store and see the many health applications available such as free workout videos and fitness tracker downloaded to your phone.  We also love the eBay auction tracker application.

3. Bluetooth headsets to go with our Blackberry phones.  We love being connected to the internet and having email capabilities while being mobile but we also love having our hands free to drive, shop or hold children while keeping up with the office, family or friends.

4. Ironically, even with picture taking capabilities, women prefer a digital camera over their cell phones. The Canon Powershot SD790 is small enough to fit in our purses along with our other electronic devices.

5. Laptop computers.  Working from home, working while the children take karate, or a working lunch, we “need” our lap tops.

6. GPS Navigation Systems.  We will stop to ask for directions unlike our male counterparts.  However, it would just be easier and quicker to type in the information rather than finding someone to ask.  We are resourceful after all!

What’s in your wallet?

Wallet When you get your stimulus check in the mail, you’ll need a new wallet to hold all those big bucks in.  May we suggest a trendy giraffe print wallet from  Dooney & Bourke and possibly a matching new handbag to go with it?  And men, why should women be the only ones allowed to splurge here?  How about a Bvlgari grain leather wallet? And if you are the “practical type”, how about a wallet that pulls double-duty as a cell phone case plus and wallet?  Remember, this is not an indulgence purchase, but rather your contribution in helping to stimulate the economy!

eBay iPhone Mobile App Coming Soon

I had a chance to chat with Alan Lewis of eBay about what he's been working on lately.  When I asked  what he's been up to he quickly pulled out an Apple iPhone out of his pocket and started giving a quick demo of a really slick Mobile application developed for eBay users to use with their iPhones.  Alan just got back from unveiling the new mobile app at the Apple Worldwide Developer's Conference.

After spending a couple minutes checking the app out I have to say it looks like a really slick, fast mobile application that will benefit buyers on the go.  The app won't be available until the App store opens later this summer, the great news is the eBay app will be free to use.

Attached are a couple of screen caps to provide a visual.  This screen shot is of the my eBay at a glance screen:

Skype is Dead... Long Live Skype!

With Skype's recent worldwide crash, people are panicking and rumor-mongering like there's no tomorrow.  But there will be a tomorrow.  Skype isn't dead - so what if eBay's stock took a dip?  The stock markets are well-known for being fickle, and this is just another blip.

The fact that Skype has generated such buzz in the news simply points to the most important fact of all - Skype is EXTREMELY popular, and has become an ESSENTIAL tool for many individuals and companies.

In my company, getitnext.com, we LIVE and BREATHE Skype.  We're located throughout North America, and we probably couldn't exist without it.  We hold all our meetings using Skype conference calls, chat throughout the day and night on Skype... Skype is as important to us as email.  Sometimes more.

People are pointing fingers at the underlying technology, playing the game of "I told you so".  Saying that P2P is inherently unreliable, and will never replace the traditional phone.  They say the same thing about VOIP in general.  They said that about cell phones too, remember?  Sure, they're all unreliable to a certain extent.  So is my car.

The thing is, I haven't owned a "traditional" phone in 4 years, and so far I'm getting along just fine.  I own a cell phone, a VOIP phone from Vonage, and I use Skype.  I also use email, IM, Facebook, Flickr and a zillion other tools to communicate with the people in my life.  What some people fail to understand is that technology has given us CHOICE, and it doesn't have to be an all or nothing proposition.

So enough with the ballyhoo!  Get over it already!  I'm going to keep using Skype until someone thinks up something even cooler.  Speaking of which...

Renowned Tech writer Om Malik recently posted that Skype is now available on the iPhone.  Now that's a fantastic combination!

I haven't got my hands on an iPhone yet, but my colleagues have, so you can read about all the cool things you can do with it, and I'm still waiting for a flexible phone that i can stick in my back pocket and not worry about crushing it when i sit down ;-)

In the meantime, I will continue to love Skype, and I send them my best wishes that they get better soon.  As I write this, my awesome Skype Bluetooth Headset sits patiently waiting for me to fire it up again.

I love technology.  I still believe.
