Mrs. Gold: a fashionista in charge of the home and children yet still remains powerful enough to set her husband straight, putting her foot down if necessary.

Mrs-ari-gold
Shauna Roberts: the hard working publicist who is dedicated enough to Vince that she works during and after her pregnancy.  She lacks a filter and is often brutally honest with her opinions.

Debi-mazar-entourage

Barbara “Babs” Miller: Ari’s smooth, calm and collected mentor.  However, she remains a force to be reckoned with and can unleash wrath in the name of power and money doing so with an evil smile.

Amanda Daniels: the black widow of all the characters. She wants her cake and wants to eat it too.  While in a power position, she uses her charm to seduce Vince.  When power is lost, lust and excitement for all that comes with it is also gone.

Carla-gugino-entourage

Jacqueline:  the long distance girlfriend.  She is enamored with the devotion and doting of a man.  However, when the doting turns to suspicion and stalking like behavior, she quickly ends the relationship.

Sloan McQuewick:  the long term girlfriend dubbed “the one that got away”.  Even after the relationship is over, Eric still lingers and resurfaces with a subtle pining for her heart.

Emmanuelle-chriqui-entourage

Jamie-Lynn Sigler:  the smart girl that can have it all but always end up with the “wrong guy”.    This is the kind of woman that thinks she can reform the loser because she can see into his caring and gentle side but ends up with feelings of anger and resentment when he just won’t grow up.

The Suspense is Killing Me

The-shining-heres-johnny Call me crazy, but there is nothing I like better than to watch a good suspense film when I am home alone.  Not any suspense movie, but the kind that makes you get up and check to see if all the doors are locked…3 times.  The kind that makes you closes the windows even though it is 80 degrees inside.  And there has to the possibility that “this could really happen” to be worthy of my viewing.  Though these movies are violent in nature, slasher and gory movies are not included in this genre.

My tops 10 picks for a good night of psychologically disturbing, gluteal tightening excitement would be:

10. Misery…starring James Cann and Kathy Bates
9.  The Bone Collector…starring Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie
8.  Fatal Attraction…starring Michael Douglas and Glenn Close
7.  Cape Fear…starring Robert DeNiro and Nick Nolte
6.  Silence of the Lambs…starring Jodi Foster and Anthony Hopkins
5.  Seven…starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman
4.  Kiss the Girls….starring Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd
3.  The Sixth Sense….starring Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment
2.  Psycho…starring Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh
1.  The Shining….starring Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall

Capturing the Moment, What to Look For in a Compact Camera

Nikon-s52 There are so many choices out there when purchasing a light weight, easy to carry digital camera.  Choices range from the budget friendly Kodak Easy Share C613 digital camera to the pricier Nikon Cool Pix S52.  Size does not always mean compromising picture quality.  Even a novice photographer can take a great photo with a compact camera.  Here are the basics to consider when camera shopping:
1.    The more mega pixels, the better the quality of a print larger than 4x6.
2.    3X optical zoom or better if you plan on taking close up shots or for shots at long range.
3.    A large LCD viewing screen.
4.    Rechargeable batteries if you plan on taking many photos.

And always remember to buy an extra sd memory card.  Most cameras are equipped to only store a few photos at a time.

The Comback (to rehab) Kid, Mickey Rourke

Mickey-Rourke-Rehab When I mention the name Mickey Rourke, a washed up, need to be in rehab, vision of a man comes to mind.  That is why I am incredibly amazed that he has been nominated for his role in The Wrestler.  That is not to say that the movie wasn’t a great watch.  I just find it nearly unbelievable that Mickey stayed sober enough to remember any lines let alone demonstrate an award worthy performance.

In recent interviews with the press, he continues to display his true colors, cursing and insulting anyone in his way.  Will this type of behavior knock him out of the running for the Best Actor Award?  He faces some tough opponents in the Best Actor category.   These nominees include Frank Langella in “Frost/Nixon”, Richard Jenkins in “The Visitor, Sean Penn in “Milk”, Leonardo DiCaprio in “Revolutionary Road”, and Brad Pitt in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”.   Who knows?  Maybe if he wins the Oscar, he might be more inclined to go back to rehab for his career comeback.

Jim Carrey Fire Marshall Bill, Lemme Show You Something

It's a slow day today so I thought I would provide some humor to get everyone through the first weekend of 2009.  Lemme show you something, an old Jim Carrey clip from In Living Color, man I miss that show.

Twilight - Romancing the Vampire

Twilight The roles play by Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise from Interview with a Vampire left us wanting more...more vampire activity, that is.  Years have passed and our desire for the sensual, dark side still remains.  Then along comes Edward Cullen, whose character is based on the Twilight series, to steal our hearts.   Based on the four-book complete set, Twilight has evolved the vampire phenomena to a whole new carnal, yet celibate, level.

Merchandise based on the Twilight movie is appearing on posters, tee shirts and decalsSkins for the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP featuring the movie’s characters are also popular.  Novels about vampires are also being fiercely consumed by devout followers including the original Anne Rice novel: The Vampire Lestat.  And the animated Japanese Vampire Knight series offers an array of fan classics such as comic books, pillows, and jewelry.

Can’t wait for Twilight to be released on DVD?  Watch Interview with a Vampire.  If a more humorous and lighter side to the vampire appeals to you, how about a boxed set of the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

Christmas Cards...to make, or not to make.

Well I just completed my 2008 Christmas cards. I had to decide whether to purchase cards, or put in some extra effort and make homemade cards. I chose the latter. So I grabbed our Nikon D80 digital camera Christmascard knowing the stress I was about to experience trying to get just one usable picture of the kids! And the preparation…do I put them in traditional Christmas attire or casual attire?  Do we want to have them wear Santa hats or not? Oh the decisions.

Once they picture was captured we printed them off using our Canon ink jet color printer and off they went in the mail. We must have done a great job because we have started to receive emails thanking us for the wonderful, festive Christmas card!

Finding My Inner Carrie Bradshaw

Sex and the city It’s Friday evening.  The work week is over.  What am I looking forward to?  Spending time with my girl friends.  The theme for the evening: Sex and the City.  Pumps and a hot strapless dress are a must.  Manolo Blahniks optional.   Chanel bowler bag, of course.   Spritz of Sex and the City Kiss perfume on pulse points.  Tassel hair and apply lip gloss.  Ready, set, go!

Cosmopolitans mixed in a pink cocktail shaker and poured into Waterford martini glasses…pink, of course.  Topic of discussion, the latest Sex and the City movie on dvd and where did I find that red pump doorstop.  And who…is…that?  Catch a glance.  Flash a smile.  Flirt just the right amount, and by evening’s end, I know exactly who that is.  Grab my cell phone flashing the Swarovski crystal custom case and add his number to my contact list.  To be continued.  Oh yes.  I’ve found my inner Carrie Bradshaw.

Netflix Gouges Blu-ray Customers With Monthly Surcharge

Netflix_gouges_bluray Well my love affair with Netflix is now over.  Today I received a message that they will now be charging  more per month for Blu-ray discs.

If they did this from the beginning I would've understood and sucked it up but now that the HD dvd war is over it just seems like its another way to gouge customers that are hooked on the format.  I guess they don't realize whats going on with the economy right now.  I plan on responding the only way I know how, with my check book.  As of next week I will be canceling my subscription and saying so long to Netflix.

Here is the money hungry message:

Dear Matt,

As you may know, Blu-ray movies are more expensive than standard definition movies. As a result, we're going to start charging $1 a month (plus applicable taxes), in addition to your monthly membership charge, for unlimited access to Blu-ray movies.

The additional charge for unlimited Blu-ray access will be automatically added to your next billing statement on or after November 5th, 2008 and will be referenced in your Membership Terms and Details. If you wish to continue getting Blu-ray movies for $1 a month more, you don't need to do anything. If not, you can remove Blu-ray access anytime by visiting Your Account at the Netflix website.

If you have questions about this change or need any assistance, please call us anytime at 1-888-638-3549.

Two Trilogies worth checking out...

Hey Everyone,

Matt_damon_2One of my current favorite actors is Matt Damon. For those of you who haven't heard of him, and I'm not sure what planet those people have been living on the last 10yrs, he first came to Hollywood's attention by writing a screenplay with his pal Ben Affleck called "Good Will Hunting" . This movie was directed by Gus Van Sant and went on to become not only a blockbuster hit, but also an Oscar winner, including Best Screenplay for its two young writers. Now, after that , Matt went full-guns into the acting world, scripts were being offered all around, and to his credit, he has picked some really choice roles. Two of my favorites are the characters he portrays in these series of movies : The Oceans Trilogy and The Bourne Trilogy. Each role required Matt to act in very different ways: The Oceans requiring a comedic bent with some insecurity thrown in for good measure and the Bourne trilogy requiring Matt to bring his cold, ruthless and hard-hitting aspects to the fore. For my money he carried both of these diametrically opposed characters off with equal skill and likability. And it's just not his characters that are great, the movies themselves are really enjoyable to watch as well; good direction, great production values, lots of laughs and never a dull moment. What I've also heard about him personally is that he's a really nice guy and despite much success, he's still manages to remain a non-diva, always a plus. Matt has definitely grown into an actor to be reckoned with in Hollywood, I'm sure we'll be seeing alot more of him, and that's okay by me.

Be sure to catch Matt in these other great films: The Good Shepperd : The Departed : Syriana : Rounders : Stuck On You : The Talented Mr.Ripley : Dogma : Saving Private Ryan

I hope everyone has a great 2008!

P.S. Tonight I'm going to a special screening of "Cloverfield" and I'm quite stoked about that!
