Blackberry Taking Apple By Storm

 Looking over the October eBay product searches, I noticed an interesting omission in the top 10.  No Apple 3g iPhone, instead the Blackberry Storm is in the top 10.  Even more interesting is that NO Apple products were in the top 10, no iPod, Macbook, iMac, nothing.  Things that make you go hmm as an Apple shareholder.

Nintendo Wii Leads All Tech Toys on eBay for 2008

So what is the most searched tech toy on eBay?  Hmm, perhaps its the gaming system that has been the hardest to find the past 3 holiday seasons.  Ah that would be the Nintendo Wii.  True to its roots eBay is the place to source hard to find items when you've gotta have em.

Over 2 million Wii consoles, Wii games, and Wii accessories have been sold on eBay this year alone.  The Wii's nearest competitors are not even close, Xbox 360 has close to 1.3 million items sold and the Sony PSP is a distant 3rd with 350,000 items sold.

Twitter What I'm Not Doing

Folks I've tried, I know its all the craze these days but I just don't get the appeal of twittering.  I can't get into it, I can't see myself posting useless info or even the appeal in reading that my friends are driving in their car, taking a deuce or attending a conference.  Maybe now that I'm in my mid 30's I'm turning into an old fogey, there I admit it.   Anyone else feel the same way about twitter?   For those of you who are twitter haters or fans I leave you with this:

Blackberry is now Wi-Fi - 8820 formally announced

The long anticipated Blackberry 8820 has finally been formally annouced.  After months of speculation it is confirmed that latest Blackberry includes a feature long asked for by Blackberry users - Wi-Fi! 

In fact the 8820 uses EDGE/GPRS/GSM cellular and Wi-Fi(R) connectivity for data access and voice support through UMA (unlicensed mobile access) for fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) service offerings from various wireless carriers around the world.  One notable exception from it's feature list is a camera phone.  The 8820 does not have a camera.

Key New Features:

• Wi-Fi
• Built-in GPS
• microSD expansion memory slot that can support both microSD (up to 2GB) and microSDHC (4GB to 32GB) memory cards

No release date has been announced.  Although some have speculated this is Blackberry's response to the iPhone that is unlikely given the long product development cycles at RIMM.  The product has been in the works for months.
