Brazen Michael Jackson hawkers are trying to cash in by reselling Michael Jackson web domains for millions.  Domain resellers have over 700 different iterations of Michael Jackson websites listed for 10's of MILLIONS.

Well since our last Michael Jackson blog on June 26th, items listed on eBay have nearly doubled.  Just a few days ago there were 31,000+ items up for BID or BIN and today there are over 61,000+ listings on eBay.  Some of the collectibles are truly unique while others are trying to net in suckers.

My favorites are the Thriller Beat It Tour t-shirts for $190 or the LA Times newspaper for $10,000.  Some people must think grieving fans are really gullible.

Not only did Michael Jackson's death cripple many newspaper websites yesterday he is also having an effect on eBay searches and sales.  Michael Jackson collectibles and merchandise listings are seeing a huge spike in viewers and sales.  I spoke to several eBay store owners who specialize in Michael Jackson merchandise and they told me they are scrambling to list as many items as possible.

Right now there are over 31,000 Michael Jackson items listed on eBay.

While I was browsing GetItNext to find myself a brand new 3g iPhone, I stumbled upon this truly amazing auction from TraxNYC. Reggie Bush Motorcycle on eBay to Benefit Dream Foundation

Bernie Madoff Piggy Bank, The Gift That Keeps on Taking

I figured an appropriate way to celebrate the news of Bernie Madoff spending his first night in jail, would be to post a funny blog.  Well I hope you like it.

Check out this Bernie Madoff Piggy Bank that is selling for top dollar on eBay.  The bank is a caricature of Bernie Madoff and the back features stacks of money bags.  It has an inoperable plug at the bottom so your money goes in but does NOT come out.

So far the bidding for this item is fierce with many of the limited edition pieces going for over $200.

867-5309 Jenny Phone Number Bidding Over $350,000 on eBay

The NY/NJ telephone number 867-5309 listed on eBay has passed the $350,000 mark.  The number made famous by Tommy Tutone's Jenny song is one of the last numbers left in the US.  There are still 3 days left before the auction closes.  Here's a link to check out the auction which is getting a ton of press, 867-5309 Phone Number

Woman Almost Sold 139 Year Old Baseball Card for $10 on eBay

Bernice Gallego, a 72 year old antiques seller almost sold a rare 1869 baseball card of the Cincinnati Red Stockings on eBay with a price of $10. 

Luckily she realized something might be special about the card when she started getting lots of inquiries and someone wanting to end the auction and buy it immediately.  So she decided to call a friend and he suggested to end the auction before she received any bids. 

Lucky for Bernice she did, the card is extremely rare and should fetch 6 figures at auction.   She plans to repost the card on eBay in the future, with a bit more fanfare and perhaps a reserve.  To check out the full story and history of the card, here's a link to the wonderful article by the good folks at the Fresnobee.

Onion Writer Selling a Joke on eBay

John Harris a staff writer for The Onion is selling a joke he can't find a home for.  The bidding for this undisclosed joke started at $0.57 and is now at $365 with 65 bids with over a day left in the auction.  To view the bidding action, here is a direct link, One Joke.

Golden Pond Boat Floating On eBay: Bidding Over 40k

One of the boats used in the production of Oscar winning movie On Golden Pond is up for auction on eBay.  As of Wednesday afternoon there are 20 bids up to $40,000.  The bidding for the 1950 Chris Craft Sportsman ends New Years Day.

The seller claims this is one of 2 boats used for the filming and the other boat was destroyed during the movie's famous crash scene.  The owner states that they have all the necessary paperwork to prove the validity of the boat and transfer information from a boat specialist to get the boat ready for the movie which starred Jane Fonda and Katharine Hepburn.
