Before the rise of the Macbook, Dell had been the predominant factor in the laptop industry. Dell offers a wide range of laptops based on price, use, and actual size (mini notebooks). Here’s a list of today's top five laptops offered by Dell so check them out and find great deals here at GetItNext!
2. Dell Studio
3. Dell Mini
4. Dell XPS
I have a Dell notebook, and it's lasted for a year and a half so
far with no hardware issues. I've known people who've had Dell
systems that have worked fine for 5-10 years. So, to imply that
Dell sells nothing but crappy computers is pretty unfair. Almost
every company has systems that end up breaking sooner than expected.
That's what warranties are for.
That said, it makes no sense why physical upgrades to a
Mac cost so much. Sure, some of the hardware is different
than what's in a PC, but there shouldn't be enough of a difference
to merit price gouging.

If you have to design a laptop with snap-on customization kit, designer's
latitude for integrating the color into the design becomes severely restrictive,
because now the kit are constraints by a one big factor: They need to be easily
removable by even monkeys and baboons, which means no complex shapes. This also
means that you will have a part on your laptop that is purely decorative, which
in conjunction with user-serviceable engineering, will add bulk. (and unnecessary seams)
I'm sure there are many other good reasons.
