According to TSN, Brent Sutter has an agreement in place to take over the helm for the Calgary Flames. No date has been set, but expect a press conference this week.
Well, this has been rumored for weeks and must really burn Lou Lamoriello's ass in New Jersey. Where there is smoke there is fire, at least thats what the Flames and their fans are hoping for. Good luck Brent, if you don't turn it around quick you are going to cost your brother his job.
Talk about one of the most impressive series in some time! Whenever it goes to game seven, you know that it’s going to be a hard fought game with big hits, big saves, and big goals.
I honestly thought that no one could beat the Detroit Red Wings this year considering they had Pavel Datsyuk, Kris Draper, Henrik Zetterberg, Marian Hossa, Chris Chelios, Niklas Lidstrom, and Brian Rafalski! But the sheer determination exhibited by the Pittsburgh Penguins had over-ridden all of the talent Detriot had to offer. On another note, it’s great to see Sidney Crosby with a Stanley Cup on his resume already, being the youngest captain to hoist the Cup. Crosby and Malkin were truly amazing throughout the entire series. If you are a Penguins fan, you can find great deals on Penguins memorabilia here at GetItNext!
Talk about a truly amazing game! As the final minute began to tick away and trailing by two goals, it looked as if Boston University was going to have to wait to add to its collection of national hockey titles. And Miami of Ohio University was on the verge of its first NCAA Hockey Championship which would be the first in any team sport for the school. But then, all of a sudden, everything changed that Saturday night. BU's Nick Bonino had a goal and an assist in the last 60 seconds to somehow force overtime, and the top-seeded Boston University Terriers won 4-3 on a shot that sailed in off a Miami Ohio player in overtime. If you didn’t get to catch this amazing game here are some clips highlighting the game!
Let me start off by saying we all know Ryan Hollweg is a dumber player. However a new force in stupidity has emerged.
This new hero of the stupid is none other than Philadelphia Flyers Daniel Carcillo. With the Flyers leading 3-0 in yesterdays must win with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Carcillo thought it would be the perfect time to throw some big hits, and then challenge light weight Maxime Talbot to a fight. He of course won the battle but the Flyers lost the war. The fight charged the otherwise sleeping Pens and they scored 5 unanswered goals and win the series.
With so much late game shenanigans going on so far in the first round I thought I would leave you with this video of my favorite ice hockey loving brothers from the movie Slapshot.
Alright here are the Red Line's NHL Round 1 playoff predictions for the Western Conference:
Chris Matt Nick Ron Colin
SJ Sharks Vs Ducks SJ SJ SJ SJ SJ
Wings vs NY Blue Jackets Wings Wings Jackets Jackets Wings
Canucks vs Blues Blues Blues Canucks Blues Canucks
Blackhawks vs Flames Hawks Hawks Hawks Hawks Hawks
I don't take Don too seriously and the below clip does have some merit when it comes to over celebrating. However, Alexander Ovechkin is so far superior to any other player in the game its not even funny. That includes Mr Cherry's boy, Sidney Crosby. I love the Joe Thornton reference, what does Don want Ovechkin to disappear in the playoffs?
Check out the following clips, 1st one is Don whining about AO and the 2nd one features 2 of AO's best goals.
According to Jay Greenberg of the NY Post Sean Avery will be back in the New York Rangers lineup Thursday night if all goes well. On Monday Sean will be placed on re-entry waivers and if he goes unclaimed the Rangers will grab him for half the freight. So if all goes according to plan Sean will be playing against the hated Icelanders Thursday night. One team that could grab Sean is the Islanders, which would be an interesting twist and would make for a very entertaining game Thursday.
