I shouldn’t have stayed up to watch the Oilers - Ducks game….been really sick the past couple of days. But I couldn’t turn that damn thing off. PVR or no PVR! Rollie was a stud all game. He made a save on Pronger at towards the end of the game that reminded me of his grab on Jonathon Cheechoo in the 2006 Playoffs. Huge win. Anaheim was all over the Oil.
Most positive of all the Oilers finally seem to be getting some chemistry on their lines. I really liked Penner with Horcoff and Kotalik. I’ve always thought that JF Jacques (JFJ) is pretty useless as a NHL player. But I think he played his best game in the NHL. The 4th line was excellent, lots of hustle and JFJ’s hit in the 2nd period directly lead to Brodziak’s goal (the eventual game winner)
Fridays' Lines
O’Sullivan – Gagner – Hemsky --> good chemistry, can’t wait to O’Sullivan can anticipate Hemmer better
Penner – Horcoff – Kotalik --> a good north / south line with skill (Kotalik is a good fit)
Moreau – Cogilano – Pisani --> Cogs + Pisani reminds me of Peca and Pisani (2006 playoffs version) – Moreau ok 5 on 5 but over committing on the PK
JF Jacques – Brodziak – Stortini --> Good Hustle, forechecking, BIG HITS
I want to see this lineup again on Sunday. Has the MacBlender finally found a tasty combination of lines??? BTW – I realize Moreau is the Captain but given his play since coming back from his scary eye injury I’d give Nilsson a look in his spot on the 3rd line.
