I am fan of saying “if you can’t run in them don’t wear heels!” And, because I can race in heels, I have proudly run, danced,
driven in them and committed all types of debauchery real and imagined
in stiletto heels ranging from 2.5 to 4 inches high!.
I love my heels. I typically insist a slight heel with everything
jeans, shorts, dresses and housecoats. So, you can imagine my shock
when I found myself picking up and pining over flats! And flats are EVERYWHERE – ballet flats, soccer mom flats, gladiator strap up sandles. Flats are the new heel!
The last time I wore ballet flats I am afraid to say was when I was too
lazy to change out of my ballet slippers out of class at University
terribly late, as usual, to the daunting micro-economics lecture. But
since then – its been heels all the way.
So you can imagine my shock when i found myself purchasing not one but two pairs of the cutest little flats ever. And, surprisingly enough I like how they look. The reason this is a surprise is because I traditionally steer clear of the flat because I loath my short legs. Petite or tall doesn't really matter girls but proportion and long, lanky legs do when it comes to wearing flats. I have cringed at the sight of more than one woman who incorrectly assumes that sliding into a pair of ballet flats will give her the coltish whimsy of Audrey Hepburn or the sex-kitten pose of a Bridgette Bardot. Not so ladies. Now with this fashion trend firmly in place for 2008 go ahead and buy your flats (I did).
