When I was a kid I used to buy baseball rookie cards like stocks. I would do my fair share of buying baseball packs but I also did a lot of bulk buying from dealers at baseball card shows (pre-internet). I remember buying 50 Barry Bonds rookie cards for $30. By buying in bulk my per card cost would go down greatly and I would spend my money on the players that I thought would do well.
For anyone interested in buying rookie cards in bulk lots, here are my picks that every solid card collector must have in your collection. Here are my top ten picks for the impressive 2007 class:
- Joba Chamberlain - 9 innings pitched, 3 hits ERA 0.00 and 15 strikeouts. His fastball hits over 100 with movement. I know its really early, but this guy appears to be the real deal and he's only 21, projected to be a starter next year but could stay in the pen and eventually become Mariano's replacement. Load up on his rookie card before it rises too high, Joba Chamberlain Rookie Card or for a Joba Chamberlain Lot of rookie cards.
- Dustin Pedroia - I can't believe I am going to put a Red Sox on the list. Pedroia has been a godsend for the Red Sox, who desperately needed a decent second baseman and instead found a stud youngster. In 110 games, Dustin's hitting .319 with 6 HR, 62 Runs and 42 RBI. runs and 66 RBI. Keep in mind those aren't veteran numbers, he's a
rookie, and he was undrafted. Click here to find deals on a Ryan Braun Rookie Card or for even more savings check out a Ryan Braun lot of rookie cards.
- Troy Tulowitzki - This 22 year old shortstop for the Colorado Rockies idolizes Derek Jeter as his hero. Troy's rookie season, however, could exceed that of Derek's 1996 season. After 123 games played, Troy is hitting .296 with 18 home runs and 78 RBI. At 22 years old he's only going to get better and better.
