With the ability to retract its roof, nothing can paint an image of summer more than the convertible. The retractable roof provides that open-road breeze that is really incomparable to a moon roof. It’s just not the same.
Some convertibles come with two options, a hard-top and a soft-top. The hard-top is nice because it provides your car the ability to work all year round, plus many tend to agree that the hard-top has a nicer look to it. The downfall, however, is that a hardtop adds more weight to the car, potentially making it slower and less fuel efficient. Now with a soft-top, not much weight is added, but the drawback is the cloth liner can potentially be damaged more easily in the winter season.
So, putting the hard-top / soft-top debate aside, just what are today's top convertibles on the market? Well we took care of the dirty work for you!
Here we've listed for you today's top ten most popular convertibles for 2009. Check them out and find great deals on all of them through GetItNext!

Oregon State Trooper David Peterson was able to pull over 6 speeding sports cars in 1 traffic stop. According to this CNN article the cars were traveling at a high rate of speed on Rt 18 during their annual road trip.
I'm actually shocked that they all pulled over and didn't try and spread out and only have him pull over the last car. From the picture it looks like 3 Ferrari's including an F40, an Acura NSX and a Lamborghini.

If there is one automaker recognizing and responding to the economic situation we are all in right now, it’s Hyundai. Hyundai is now offering a plan to potential buyers called “Hyundai Assurance” that allows you to walk away from your loan or lease without having to worry about negative equity. It will even let you return your vehicle in the case of certain life-altering circumstances.
• Available on all new Hyundai vehicles. • Available to everyone regardless of age, health, or employment history. • 12 months complimentary on every new Hyundai vehicle financed or leased. • Covers up to $7,500 in negative equity.
Coverage in case of:
• Involuntary unemployment • Physical disability • Loss of drivers license due to medical impairment • International employment transfer • Self-employed personal bankruptcy • Accidental Death
How it Works
1. You finance or lease the new Hyundai of your choice, using the financing option of your choice. 2. Should you experience any of the covered circumstances noted above, you may file a request for benefit with Hyundai Assurance Administrator. You must have made at least two scheduled payments and be current on your loan or lease to qualify for benefit approval. 3. Your benefits specialist will determine the value of your vehicle based on the average of your dealer’s appraisal and the values from leading industry guides. 4. Upon benefit approval, you return the vehicle to the selling dealer and pay any additional balance above the $7,500 Hyundai Assurance benefit amount. 5. You walk away without further financial obligation, leaving your credit rating intact.
Since General Motors has announced that they can't find a buyer for Saab, one enterprising consultant with a sense of humor has an auction on eBay to help the beleaguered automaker. Here is a link to the auction, Saab Car Company. Below are a couple excerpts from the auction:
A nice manufacturing plant in Sweden and a sub-assembly plant in Australia
A lot of parts and tools and office supplies.
A few thousand employees, managers and supervisors, all very nice people with many talents and skills.
A few cars in the pipeline (nothing that a little focus and attention can't solve)
A design studio, computers, and other fixed assets (hint to potential buyers, use fixed assets as a negotiating leverage, Swedish office furnishings are top notch).
About 400 world wide dealers (maybe more, not really sure), but a group of dedicated folks willing to do what it takes to keep this great brand alive.
Tremendous parts and service opportunities - Saab customers for the most part are very loyal - even more loyal than Volvo customers.
Over 60 years old, in excellent condition, sports and performance focused, looks great at 5 feet, however up close you will notice the brand needs a little attention.
Saab cars are fun to drive, very seldom break down, are very sporty. In the world of "me too" cars like a boring Honda Accord or a Toyota (Taurus type) Camry, Saabs represent individual style and tastes of understated distinction.
Additionally Saab cars are one of the safest cars in its class, beating out Mercedes Benz, BMW and Volvo too!!
Blue Book Value:
Franchises and companies like these have sold for over $6 billion dollars, I’m told the reserve has been set low, automotive press reports that the brand can be purchase for as little as $100 million dollars. With a strong US dollar, building cars in Sweden can provide a great ROI, if you have experience in foreign exchange markets this can be a really big plus.
I’m told Michael Dell wants to buy dealerships, forget that, the way to go is to have complete control of distribution by owning a brand, hey you can re-name the thing, it won’t matter as long as you can continue to build great products and service your customers, profits will be there. Although GM stated Opel is not for sale, you may want to approach them with a package deal and roll in Saab as well.

I read an interesting article on CNN this morning talking about a future where electric cars like the Chevy Volt will be duking it out on a NASCAR track near you. While it arguably wouldn't be the same hearing cars zipping around the track making only tire noise and no full-throated bellow from a small block V8 without mufflers - it may be the future. What to you think NASCAR fans? Would you watch a good race without the chest pounding noise?
